Principal's Message

Dear Parents,

It has been great to be back with the children this week. I can see that they are refreshed and ready to learn in Term 2. The children have had an amazing time playing in the autumn leaves out in the yard. We’ve captured some of the fun (see pictures below) as they play leaf angels, raking, hiding and throwing the leaves. Our tree in the yard shows that the seasons are changing.

Yesterday, we held our school cross country carnival. I was very proud of all of our students. Every child participated in this event and ran in their race to the best of their ability. I often talk about running to children in terms of ‘running is hard’, so it was pleasing to see children pushing themselves as they took on the course. We will present ribbons to the race winners at Monday’s assembly. Children who have been selected to represent our school at Zone Cross Country will have a note sent home today. This note must be returned to school by Monday. The children competing at Zone Cross Country will compete next Wednesday 28th March.

Finally, as part of our work in Catholic Education, staff are attending Staff Proclaim on Wednesday 5th May. This day is a pupil free day, there is no supervision of students at school on this day.

Regards,

Nathan Trezise

Principal

School Cross Country

The Cross Country Carnival yesterday at the Dorrigo Recreational Grounds. We enjoyed some cool but clear weather for this event and it was great to see so many parents and friends there cheering the students on.  There was a fun run for K - 2, and 2000m and 3000m events for the older students.

What a glorious start to Term 2! Welcome back, everyone.  This term we have many exciting events to look forward to including our Student Digital Innovators club where I will be providing opportunities for students to learn some new technology. Shyla and Ryleigh had an opportunity to learn a few photography tips on Tuesday and practised using natural light and the rule of thirds to compose photos. I am looking forward to watching this creativity blossom over the term!

Instrumental Music With Hazel

We have music tutor available to teach instrumental music through private tuition. Hazel Buchanan is interested in working with our students. Hazel can teach:

- flute

- clarinet

- saxophone

- oboe

- bassoon

- trumpet

- trombone

- percussion

- bass guitar

The school owns a flute and a clarinet, which are available for families to borrow long-term at no cost. The payments for lessons are billed each term and paid directly to Hazel. An Essential Element Band Book will be supplied by the school too.

Students wishing to learn these instruments can do so in individual lessons or in small groups depending on the instrument chosen. It is hoped that one day, we can start a small ensemble or band for instrumental students to play together.

If you are interested in taking up this opportunity, please contact Hazel directly on 0458 572 525.
