Parent-Teacher Interviews

We look forward to seeing you next week at our Parent-Teacher Interviews. This is a great opportunity to connect with your child's teacher, discover what is happening in the classroom and ask all those burning questions. If you haven't made your appointment yet - it's not too late; book a time through Compass now!

Tell Them From Me

As part of our focus on school effectiveness, Mt St John's will participate in an online survey for students—Tell Them From Me ® (TTFM®). Schools in Australia and worldwide have used the Tell Them From Me survey to help them improve. The information you provide will be used to maintain our commitment to working together in partnership to further improve student learning and wellbeing.

The survey is anonymous and will take approximately 20 minutes to complete. You can access the parent survey until WEDNESDAY 22nd MAY on your computer or mobile device by using the URL below:

http://tellthemfromme.com/x5p46

Thank you for your support with this - your feedback is incredibly valuable!

What's On - Term 2

As always, please call or email me with any questions or concerns.

Have a lovely weekend,

The Resilience Project

You are warmly invited to our next Parent Night—Connected Parenting Webinar, which will be held on Monday, June 3rd, from 6:30 p.m. to 7:45 p.m.

What you can expect:
This Connected Parenting Webinar offers a valuable set of tools for parents and carers aiming to raise children through positive connections and communication. Tips for parents and carers will include;

  • Guiding our children to become resilient adults.
  • Practical strategies to build stronger connections with your children.
  • Ideas to support your children when they are frustrated or going through challenging situations.
  • Simple ways to create co-operation.
  • Dealing with our own triggers as a parent.
  • Understanding big emotions and feelings and assisting your kids in becoming emotionally resilient.

The evening will be led by Lael Stone, an author, TEDx speaker, counsellor and parenting educator who specialises in navigating trauma and disconnection in families. She has spent the last 17 years working with families, as well as running programs in Secondary schools for teens on relationships and Well-being. School Library News

Now that our library is open, students can borrow again regularly. We are splitting library times for infants and primary school students over two days after lunch to minimise disruptions to key learning times.

The schedule will be:

Wednesday - Primary (Stage 2 and Stage 3)
Thursday - Infants (Kindy and Stage 1)

Students may borrow 4 books each week, and they should bring a cloth library bag to school on their library day to help protect their books.

We are enjoying sharing our beautiful, reimagined library space with the students and encouraging them to develop a lifelong love of reading!

School Bus Travel

Students who need a School Opal card or travel pass for 2024 can apply here. A new application will need to be submitted if they are applying for the first time, or if they are requesting additional travel entitlement because of new shared parental arrangement (e.g. joint custody).

If a student’s distance eligibility has changed based on their grade (i.e. grade two to grade three), the system will automatically update their entitlement if they meet the new criteria. If they do not meet the new eligibility criteria, an expiry notification will be sent via email.

Students who have an entitlement approved under a medical condition that is due to expire will receive a notification advising them to re-apply.

Term Bus Pass holders will receive a notification to re-apply.

Students living in rural and regional (R&R) areas should receive their travel pass at the start of the new school year from their nominated transport operator. It may come via the school or be sent directly to them at home. Note: some R&R operators do not issue travel passes. Students/parents should confirm with their nominated operator if they do not receive a pass.
