Principal's Message

Dear Parents,

It’s great to be back at school after extended leave. It has been good to reconnect with our students and meet our new Kindergarten children. I can’t believe how much some of the children have grown in my time away. As I was preparing to come back to school, I looked at student learning data. I was really pleased once again to see that many students demonstrated growth in 2021. As a staff we spent some time unpacking student learning data earlier in the week as well as conducting Mathematics Assessment Interviews to see when students are to guide our teaching.

A photo gallery is below with many pictures from our first day back at school for 2022. I encourage you to take a look.

Finally, this prayer was shared with us during a virtual Principals' meeting earlier this week. It is from St Francis De Sales. I feel like it speaks to us now as we come back to school prepared for everything 2022 will offer us.

Nathan Trezise,

Principal

First Day of School, 2022

We are honoured to be on the ancestral lands of the Gumbaynggirr people. We acknowledge the First Australians as the traditional custodians of the continent, whose cultures are among the oldest living cultures in human history. We pay respect to the Elders of the community and extend our recognition to their descendants who are present.

Term 1 Swimming Program

Swimming will commence for all students from Kindergarten to Year 6 next Thursday 10th February. Swimming is a compulsory part of the PDHPE curriculum. A note with more details is being sent home to familes today.

Students will need to bring swimmers, a towel, goggles, caps (the school can provide swimming caps for those students who don't own one), and sun shirts to school each Thursday for their lesson. There is no extra cost for swimming lessons, as the school covers the pool entry fees and payments to the swim teachers.

Swimming lessons will take place each Thursday in Term 1 (weather permitting) at the following times:

Stage 3 at 1pm

Stage 2 at 1.40pm

K - 2 at 2.20pm

Students will walk to and from the pool. Please note, K - 2 students are to be collected from the pool at the end of the day each Thursday as their lesson will finish at 3:05pm. Due to Covid regulations Tracey has asked that parents pick their children up from outside the pool. K - 2 students catching buses will do so from Dorrigo Public School, supervised by our staff.

Road Safety Newsletter

Families can help keep children safe by:

  • Sticking to the speed limit and following the road rules in school zones
  • Slowing down to 40km/h when bus lights are flashing
  • Looking out for children crossing the road near bus stops, in school zones or along bus routes
  • Giving way to buses when they merge back into traffic.
  • Never drop off or meet children on the opposite side of the road to the bus stop or call them across the road. Always drop them off or meet them on the same side of the road as the bus stop.
  • Encouraging their children to be distraction-free around buses - put down their phone and take off their headphones.
