Principal's Message

Dear Parents,

On Monday, our Prayer Assembly was led by our Kindergarten students. They have been learning about the Old Testament stories. This week, they told us the story of Noah’s Ark. It was wonderful to see the energy and enthusiasm these children have. I commend them on how well they read in front of the whole school. I thank Mrs Darby for assisting this class to lead our assembly in the absence of Miss Griffiths. Below are some photos from the Kindergarten Prayer Assembly.

On Thursday our Stage 2 and 3 students attended a Soccer Gala day to coincide with the FIFA World Cup. The students competed in 5-a-side matches at the International Stadium in Coffs Harbour. We came up against some strong opponents but as always our students played their best and played fairly.

Next week we have our Zone Swimming trials on Monday. These trials are for students turning 8 years next year who wish to swim at the Zone carnival in February.

We also have our final Kindergarten Orientation session on Tuesday morning. It has been great to meet our new Kindergarten students. I have really enjoyed seeing our current students make these new students feel welcome at Mt St John’s.

Regards,

Nathan Trezise,

Principal

Christmas Giving Tree

Mt St Johns are doing their Giving Tree again this year. There is a Christmas tree in the foyer with some gift tags on it. Each tag has the age and gender of a child written on it. If you are able to help a family in need, please ask your child to choose a tag from the tree and buy a gift for a child that age. Gifts must be returned to school by Friday 10th December. Please sticky tape your tag to the gift. Thank you!

We are also collecting toiletries for the homeless. All donations are gratefully accepted.

Today We Noticed.... RESPECT

This week we've been focusing on the school expectation of being respectful, and we've been on the look-out for students showing respect so we can recognise and highlight their positive contributions to our classrooms and yard. Each of these students has their affirmation written on a slip of paper to bring home - ask them about it!

Congratulations to the following students: Harry C, Chloe, Ethan, Eden, Malachi, Lakota, Makayla, Piper & Cormac.

Term 4 Swimming Lessons

Our Term 4 swimming program continues for all students from Kindergarten to Year 6. Swimming is a compulsory part of the PDHPE curriculum.

Students will need to bring swimmers, a towel, goggles, caps (the school can provide swimming caps for those students who don't own one), and sun shirts to school each Thursday for their lesson. There is no extra cost for swimming lessons, as the school covers the pool entry fees and payments to the swim teachers.

Swimming lessons will take place each Thursday in Term 4 (weather permitting) at the following times:

Stage 3 at 1pm

Stage 2 at 1.40pm

K - 2 at 2.20pm

Students will walk to and from the pool. Please note, K - 2 students are to be collected from the pool at the end of the day each Thursday as their lesson will finish at 3:05pm. K - 2 students catching buses will do so from Dorrigo Public School, supervised by our staff.
